Education is the accumulated wealth that paves the way for a better life, a truth I grasped early on while growing up in a mother-teacher and father-architect household. This upbringing afforded me a first-hand look at the transformative power of knowledge. Despite the assumption that math would naturally be my forte, I found it required diligent effort. In my earlier years, mathematics seemed confined to rigid rules and rote memorization, leaving little room for questioning or understanding the underlying principles.

However, it wasn't until later, while studying economics and finance, that I truly appreciated the importance of mathematics and the rationale behind its teaching. I am grateful to my alma mater Teachers College, Columbia University where I was encouraged to explore the "whys" of mathematics.

Transitioning into a career as a math teacher allowed me to delve deeper into the complexities of educational outcomes. While continuous self-reflection spurred personal growth and improvement, it was through professional development that I gained the necessary tools and strategies to optimize my teaching effectiveness.

When I became department chair, I recognized the invaluable contributions of teamwork in shaping and enriching educational experiences. Collaborating with like-minded colleagues, we endeavored to make mathematics more accessible to all students, striving to effect changes within our educational systems.

Becoming a parent rewrote the importance of nurturing relationships and fostering a supportive environment for childhood development. This realization was reinforced during the pandemic when I took on the responsibility of homeschooling our child, highlighting the critical role of language, comprehension, and social-emotional learning in the learning process.

In these almost two decades of teaching and learning, I've come to appreciate the multifaceted nature of education. From the intricacies of information processing to the nuances of performance and application, I've learned that successful learning outcomes are influenced by multiple factors.

As I continue on this journey, I am committed to further exploration and discovery, guided by many epiphanies including – education is not what we need for a job, but education is what we need for civility and humanity.

I am Jaspreet Sethi, a homeschooling mom, a math and language enthusiast, educator, and educational consultant. Drawing upon training and experience, as well as current research in the field of education, I provide effective, evidence-based solutions for all my stakeholders.

I believe in building learner communities experiencing the joys of learning by creating and delivering thoughtfully-planned, engaging lessons to all ages across the globe. I am well versed with early childhood, Pre-K-12 mathematics and reading, various curricula worldwide and keep growing by learning about how instruction is delivered around the globe and how effective teaching develops a growth-mindset and penchant for learning for life.

When I am not working, I am reading, writing, crafting, building, or playing with our child - our biggest joy and inspiration. I have a loving engineer husband who is the driving force and CPU behind all my endeavors.
