Learners will NOT connect with and pursue math when they LACK language and vocabulary, engaging lessons, tools to absorb and assimilate information, problem-solving strategies, initiative to try and motivation to persevere, working memory and long-term memory skills, focus and retention skills, the understanding that math is NOT about rules, speed, or getting the right answer, but finding optimal solutions to problems with logical reasoning and critical thinking, the proof that math enhances cognition and abilities to decode, process, analyze, summarize, estimate, project, forecast to make predictions and better decisions, accessibility, which comes in the form of solid number sense and math fact fluency.

MATH FROM SCRATCH FOR EDUCATORS
Math from Scratch is a highly innovative, engaging, and comprehensive professional development program designed specifically for Pre-K-5 teachers (and parents) who want to deepen their conceptual understanding of mathematics and improve their ability to teach mathematics effectively. This 12 hours immersive program introduces educators to innovative research-based tools, number sense learning trajectory along with powerful techniques to aid their learners with enhanced focus, attention, listening, visualization, confidence, growth-mindset, and reflection skills.
Program Highlights
Session 1 – focuses on emphasizing number sense learning trajectory (subitizing, rote counting, one-to-one correspondence, cardinality, hierarchical inclusion, and number conservation), provides effective tools and physical and virtual manipulatives along with rich tasks, engaging games, and implementation ideas for refined place value, spatial reasoning, time, data, measurement, and money skills.
Session 2 – covers progression and strategies to teach addition, subtraction, multiplication, and provides many more rich tasks, engaging games, and implementation ideas for refined place value, spatial reasoning, time, data, measurement, and money skills.
Session 3 – focuses on more multiplication strategies, progression of how to teach division and conversions, introduce fractions and decimals, and provides many more rich tasks, engaging games, and implementation ideas for refined place value, spatial reasoning, time, data, measurement, and money skills.
